Trip Info

General Information

Membership
The club charges a membership fee of £3 for the whole year, and is used for social events, equipment and other overheads.

Insurance
You are required to take out accident insurance for our trips. This protects you while you undertake all activities under the clubs supervision (social events and mountaineering trips). This is £25 per academic year. If you have paid this for the climbing club then you do not have to pay for this again. If you are unsure, just check with us.

Weekend Trips

Timings
Trips leave at around around 7pm on Friday evenings and returning late (around 9-11pm) on Sunday evenings unless otherwise stated.  They leave and return to the sports centre on Gipsy Lane Campus (next to Cheney Student Village). If you have lectures on Monday that you need to get back for early please make sure you tell us so we can plan for this. It may not always be possible to get back from some trips early (such as the Lake District) because of the distance we need to travel (we will let you know this beforehand).

Accommodation
We usually stay in camping barns during the colder months and tents during the warmer months.  The barns cost a little more so the more people we can get on the trips the better as this helps keep costs down!

Costs
Costs for trips are usually around £35 which is based on 8 people attending per trip. Trips however normally require a minimum of 6 people to run. This cost includes your transport, accommodation and food.  However we would advise people to bring a bit of spare cash for motorway treats or maybe a other food in the service stations on the way.

Day Trips

Timings
Trips usually leave early Saturday morning and return in the early evening on the same day.

Costs
Cost will be worked out per trip and will vary depending on location and transport needed.
